RETREAT ITINERARY

All running days will include a guided warm up and an active stretching session post run. Exact itinerary subject to change.

Thursday

After arrival, we will start with a shorter run.  The distance is completely up to you since we will be running directly from the cabins, but most people choose 3-6 miles.  Then enjoy a delicious plant-based dinner and socialize around the fire.

Friday

Explore the miles of trails of Bent Creek Experimental Forest.  Choose from relatively flat gravel/paved lake loop or a more challenging single track route.  Trail shoes are not necessary if you are running the lake loop, but are suggested for single track.  After lunch, we'll have coaching/training sessions, gait analysis, and plenty of down time to relax or explore.

Saturday

Long run day along the French Broad River.  Run as many miles as you wish along the newly completed greenway. Stop at the cabins whenever you like or grab a local beer at a riverside brewery.  The afternoon will be reserved for strength, stretching, training, and relaxing. In the evening we will explore downtown Asheville!

Sunday

Wake up for a riverside run or simply take your time savoring the last of the weekend. Transportation will be provided back to the Asheville Airport Sunday morning.

FAQ

Can My Spouse or Running Buddy Join?

Yes!  The cabins at Wrongway Campground feature a queen bed and a pull-out queen sofa bed. While technically that means 4 people can stay in one cabin, you'll want to know them really well first!  We will apply a lodging discount of $600 to the full retreat price of the additional person in a shared cabin.

What is Your refund policy?

We highly recommend that you protect your trip with travel insurance, should you need to cancel unexpectedly.  Here's an affordable option. (Note: this is a third-party company that is not affiliated with The Planted Runner. Please research the best options for you.)

Our final payment for the venue and vendors is due June 15, 2024, so no refunds will be available after that date.

Should you cancel your reservation on or before March 15, 2024, you will receive a 100% refund minus a $200 administration fee.  If you cancel your reservation between March 16 and June 15, 2024, you will receive a 50% refund to your original payment method.

Registrations are transferrable.  If you are unexpectedly unable to attend, please consider transferring your trip to another runner.  We may be able to fill your spot with another runner and we will work with you to create a fair solution, but we cannot guarantee any refunds in advance.

By purchasing this event, you agree to and understand the policies set forth on The Planted Runner website.

The Planted Runner reserves the right to make changes in the schedule, speakers, activities, menus, swag, partners, vendors, and other Retreat details at any time for any reason.

In the unlikely event The Planted Runner is forced to cancel the event completely, we will provide refunds less all credit card processing fees, administrative fees, non-refundable deposits paid to suppliers and vendors, and payments already issued to contractors on behalf of Retreat attendees.  Options will be given for rescheduling and/or credits given on future events and/or services or products.

Will this work with my fall race?

Yes!  Since you choose how much you want to run each day, this retreat can fit your schedule no matter what your racing plans.  Coach Claire can personally help you plan your runs to fit in with your race training.

I'm not vegan/vegetarian/plant based. Will I be hungry?

No way!  One of the goals of this retreat is to show how delicious and satisfying plant-based food can be.  The meals will be chef-catered and carefully planned with hungry runners in mind.  If you do have specific snacks that you like to have, be sure to let us know or feel free to bring them along.

Will there be runners at my same pace and/or age?

More than likely, yes.  This retreat is for all adult runners and we typically attract runners between the ages of 30-70.   All paces are welcome, including run/walk.  One of the best features of our venue is that it's right along the river where we will be running.  That means we all start and end at the same place no matter what pace or distance.
