Even to this day, most scientific studies either intentionally or unintentionally exclude women.

Females are difficult to study because we have periods, fluctuating hormones, and babies.  So we’re left to take the advice that works for males and assume that we’re close enough.

The reality is, we’re far from it.

There are plenty of systemic societal, political, and traditional reasons that females are not studied in the same way as males and it can get frustrating if you let it get to you.

But there is hope.

Her new book, Up To Speed, explores the myths and gender biases of scientific research today, and empowers people to excel in sport regardless of sex or gender.  It’s a fascinating read for anyone who considers themselves a student of sport.
